The Easter Vigil 2015

The Easter Vigil was the final ceremony of the Easter Triduum, very beautiful and moving.

Father Philip lit our special Centenary Easter candle embost with a sailing boat outside the church in darkness, followed by a fireworks display.

The Easter candle was carried on, to the sanctuary, with the church in darkness, to begin the Easter Vigil which Father Philip opened with the sung ‘Exultet’.

Father Philip’s sermon at the Easter Vigil included three questions;

  • where have we been?’,
  • where are we now?
  • where are we going?

These three questions are particularly important in this, the Centenary Year of the Holy Ghost parish.

Asking ‘where are we going?’ Father Philip emphasized that we, as a community, need to reflect the joy of the Gospel and to be more pro-active in our faith and in our daily lives. He stressed the value and importance of attending the Triduum services.

The service continued with the renewal of our baptismal promises and concluded with the ‘Liturgy of the Eucharist’.
