Safeguarding in the Parish

Holy Family Safeguarding Policy.

The Holy Family Parish fully endorse and are guided by the Catholic Church Safeguarding Policy for England and Wales.

The Holy Family Parish have two Parish Safeguarding Representatives.

They are the local representatives to contact if you have concerns about safeguarding issues relating to children, young people or vulnerable adults. They are supported by the Diocesan Safeguarding Team based in Ashburton. Tel 01364 645430.

The National Catholic Safeguarding Commission. ( NCSC)

This is the national body responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Catholic Church’s Safeguarding Policy for children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service ( CSAS)

They in turn set and direct the work of the Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (CSAS) which co-ordinates the practise, advice and support offered in respect of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The Safeguarding Team in Ashburton are the Plymouth Diocese local branch of the CSAS.

Educare

The NCSC have made available free of charge to any parishioner through Educare a number of online learning programmes relating to Safeguarding.

These include;-

  • Child Protection and Child Protection Refresher.
  • Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Adults Refresher.
  • Child Protection in Education.
  • Child Exploitation and online Safety.

These can be accessed through the Diocesan Safeguarding Office in Ashburton in the first instance.
