Happy New Year!

On New Year’s Eve, afternoon tea was laid on in the hall at Holy Ghost Church, Exmouth. It was attended by parishioners from both Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton, some who had not seen many other people over the festive season.

The hall was warm and welcoming and we sat at tables covered with pretty yellow gingham tablecloths. On arrival we were immediately offered a choice of hot drink before playing two games of bingo.

We were then served a light tea consisting of a tempting selection of sandwiches, wraps, rolls, cheese straws and mini quiches. The tea was expertly served by a group of young people from the parish family and during tea we were treated to some beautiful singing by Ellori.

The musical interlude was followed by another game of bingo and then Lewis, the most junior and Sr. Margaret, the most senior parishioners at the gathering jointly cut the celebratory cake. There was a very convivial atmosphere in the hall as glasses of Prosecco and elderflower presse were enjoyed and the delicious cake was shared.

This event provided an excellent opportunity for parishioners to spend time in each other’s company and make new friends whilst sharing tasty food and enjoying lively conversation and I’m sure that all those who attended would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make it such a success.
