On Monday February 19th 2018 over 60 people from the parish and across the Diocese came together for a Lenten Day of Reflection at Sidholme Christian Hotel & Conference Centre in Sidmouth.
Led by Fr. Philip, the group considered the ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus before following ‘signs’ that led them around the extensive building and grounds to stations. Each station displayed one of the sayings, together with quotations from Pope Francis to contemplate.
In May this year Bishop Mark will be joining many of those present for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, aptly named ‘The Way, the Truth & the Life. Our day at Sidholme gave those present a great opportunity to get to know each other better before setting off on the Camino de Santiago.
Some of those travelling from afar stayed overnight for a residential retreat, giving us more time to pray and be together. The Lenten quiet day itself culminated in the celebration of mass together before all went back to their own parishes.
