The Feast of the Epiphany 2018

“The Wise Men were overjoyed on seeing the star again. They went into the house and when they saw the Child with Mary his mother, they knelt and worshipped Him.” Matt. 2: 10

Three Kings and a host of travelling companions! The children from St. Joseph’s School came to celebrate mass with us at Holy Ghost this morning in anticipation of the Epiphany this weekend. The resplendent kings carrying gifts of gold, frankincense & myrrh walked in a grand procession from the school accompanied by all the other children. The very youngest children, wearing gold crowns, came prepared for a journey and all had bags or suitcases with them.

An ancient Christian custom associated with the Epiphany is the blessing of homes with chalk and during the afternoon Fr. Philip went into the school to mark the entrances. This weekend all parishioners will be invited to adopt this custom in the hope that each ‘holy doorway’ will become a source of blessing for them, their whole family and all who visit their house.
