Holy Family Parish Advent Retreat and Quiet Day

The rising sun has come from on high to visit us Luke 1:78

On Monday 28th November 47 parishioners from Exmouth, Budleigh & Sidmouth took time out to spend the day on retreat at Buckfast. The day, led by Fr. Philip was very special and some comments are printed below to try and share the thoughts of those who attended. Twelve of the group chose to stay for the residential retreat until Wednesday 30th and were delighted to welcome Bishop Mark for tea on Tuesday. Take a look at the photos, taken for us by Fern Purchall.

‘I loved the Parish day – it was great and so uplifting’

‘The Reflections on the Benedictus by Fr Philip was very insightful and helpful for meditation. Buffet Excellent’

‘The extended free time was much appreciated and gave space for each to spend in their own way. The completion of the day with the Celebration of Holy Mass, made a fitting end to an eventful day’

Mary Jago, one of the 3 day participants left with this impression:-

“Who are you?” he asked.
A child of God, of Love,
And…
More, much more,
Part of a family, of friendships, Community,
All so much in our hearts during these three days of
“coming in out of the wind”
Pausing in prayer
Focus
Thought
Support
Uplift
COMMUNION
Soul food
Good meals shared
Tea with our Bishop
Country strolls in sunshine and in frost
So close to Dartmoor’s majesty
To return refreshed, renewed in love on our Advent journey to Bethlehem.

The Lent Parish Day at Buckfast will be on Monday 6th March 2017
