Monday December 2nd 2019 …… Buckfast Abbey looked stunning on a frosty and sunny morning when fifty five parishioners gathered to take part in our Advent Day of Reflection.
Fr Philip illustrated his presentation with a series of gospel readings and Sacred music, together with a message from Pope Francis about the joy of love. He invited us to think about our inner thoughts and stressed that the Church was not about being miserable and that God furnishes us with joy to open our arms to others.
He commented that the Songs of Advent encompass creative love , forgiveness and redemption.
A communal lunch was much enjoyed and gave us the opportunity to meet new friends and renew acquaintances . Many of us visited the newly opened interactive exhibition about the history of the Abbey and the life of a Benedictine monk and the day finished with Father celebrating Mass in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
